Chomsky Allstars’ high-octane constellation of punk, blues, dance and dub blends the 20/20 foresight of Noam Chomsky with the acerbic social commentary of Bill Hicks. Comprising Chomsky on vocals/guitar, Frankie Coia on bass and Derek Chapman on drums, the Glasgow-based trio are Scotland’s sole representatives (alongside luminaries such as Don Letts and Dan Donovan) on the international charity album “Shatter the Hotel: The Songs of Joe Strummer In Dub”, due for release in December.
“The Big I Am”, the band's debut single, was first released on Deck Wreckin' Records in July 2008, receiving national airplay not just in the UK, but as far afield as Ireland, Russia, Canada and the USA. The Chomsky-penned track, mercilessly lampooning celebrity culture, has been proclaimed ‘the “Teenage Kicks” of the Bebo generation’. |
