“This has been a long time coming. The List has sat quietly, collecting up demos and singles in a tidy pile until this unassuming quartet finally got a long player out. Thankfully this is worth the wait. While they don’t sound like either, they invoke the spirit of The Delagdos and The Wedding Present at points: overwrought and emotionally exhausting.” The List Look up longevity in the Scottish indie dictionary and you will probably find Odeon Beatclub. If you've been around the Scottish music scene the chances are you've probably seen them, heard of them, loaned them equipment or maybe even played bass for them. In their earliest incarnation the band most notably played at T in the Park and the best of T break, supported Snow Patrol, The Coral, Ballboy, Half Man Half Biscuit, Arab Strap, Camera Obscura and many others. More recently the band have toured Scotland twice with Babyshambles (an education in Rock’n’Roll behaviour) and played Connect Festival. Despite being around the block a few times, the Glasgow quartet’s knack for writing a good song has never diminished and their debut album makes good the promise of their early singles and EPs. Odeon Beatclub have released singles Behind My Eye (Electric Honey Records 2003), Past Gone Mad, Take It Off, The Architect, The Midnight Service Station EP (Polyester Records 02-05) and The Glowing Underground EP (Fierce Panda Records 2004) and Being Realistic, Trouble Ticket and Last Gasp as well as the album Odeon Beatclub (Beatclub Recordings). The bands biggest selling single to date is The New Kate Moss. |
